OOGA BOOGAS, The First Two Little Fruits Art Project.
It's Throwback Thursday! Starting this week we want to share with you some artworks that we have created over the years. These are the projects that got us to where we are today. We want to share the story of how it all came to be, with our 1st art project, The OOGA BOOGAS.
Derek and I met in the summer of 2001 and it was not long after that we decided to watch Indiana Jones and the Raiders Of The Lost Ark. After we finished watching that classic film, we were inspired to make our own golden idols to covet.
Derek happened to have some Sculptamold and pickle jars, so we got to work on the 1st artsy thing we did together. We wrapped the jars in the plaster wrap, formed their features and gave them a nice golden paint job. Ever since then, we have affectionately called them our OOGA BOOGAS.
Derek's, on the right, has been a constant companion for him in the studio. My OOGA BOOGA has been my office mate and called all of my day jobs home for the last 14 years. While he held my pens and scissors, he also held my hopes and dreams. :) OOGA BOOGA was my reminder that one day I would get to leave my day job behind and join Derek in the studio.
I am happy to report that at the end of 2015 I did quit my day job to become a full-time employee at Two Little Fruits, and it feels great! Finally, the OOGA BOOGAS are reunited and it feels so good! #TBT #ART #SCULPTAMOLD
