About Two Little Fruits
We're Brent and Derek — a husband-and-husband team making hand-illustrated homegoods and gifts out of a backyard studio in Denver, Colorado.
It started in the basement. A decade later we're still at it, now with a proper studio out back, two opinionated cats named Angus and Finn, and a koi pond that has turned out to be far more entertaining than tranquil.
Every design starts as a drawing
Derek draws all of it by hand — every frog, every knitting marmot, every slightly unhinged piece of produce. Nothing is licensed, nothing is pulled from a stock library. If you've seen a Two Little Fruits sasquatch, you've seen something he sat down and drew.
From there it becomes the kind of thing you reach for without thinking: a 15 oz ceramic mug, a screen-printed cotton tea towel, a Swedish dishcloth that does the work of roughly seventeen rolls of paper towels, a pint glass that makes a guest laugh mid-sip.
Made here, mostly by us
We print mugs and coasters in-house. We hand-pour the candles in small batches. We pack and ship every order ourselves — so there's a decent chance the person who drew your tea towel is also the person who put it in the mailer.
It's slower than sending artwork off to a factory, and it's the whole point. It means we can make fifty of something instead of five thousand, try an idea that might be too weird to survive a committee, and fix it ourselves when it isn't right.
Where you'll find us
You can shop with us directly here. You'll also find our work in independent shops across the country — neighborhood gift stores, general stores, lodges, nature centers and botanical gardens — and at markets around Denver, where we get to hand things to people in person and watch them decide which cat they are.
If you run a shop and want to carry us, we'd love to hear from you. And if you're here because someone gave you a mug with a frog on it: that's the best possible reason.
Thanks for being here. We hope something we made ends up somewhere you'll see it every day.
