A ten dollar gift has a hard job. It has to feel considered, not obligatory, and it usually has to work for someone you like but do not know intimately — a teacher, a coworker, the friend who hosted. Everything below clears that bar, and all of it is drawn by hand in our Denver studio.
Swedish Dishcloths — $8
The sleeper gift of the list, and the one people actually write to us about. A Swedish dishcloth is a cellulose and cotton sponge cloth: super-absorbent, quick-drying so it never picks up that old-sponge smell, machine washable and reusable for months. One cloth replaces roughly seventeen rolls of paper towels, and it composts at the end of its life.
